The 2025 Connacht GAA Senior Football Championship

Seven counties will compete in the 2025 Connacht Senior Football Championship: Mayo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Sligo, and Galway, as well as the senior GAA football teams in New York and London.

The draw for the 2025 Connacht GAA Senior Football Championship, which was made in October, dictates that the winner of the New York - Galway quarter-final match will take on the winner of the London - Roscommon quarter-final match, which is scheduled for April 5 in Ruislip.

Meanwhile, Mayo will take on Sligo in the quarter-finals, also on April 6. The winner of that match will take on Leitrim in the semi-finals.

All games will go to extra time if needed and finish on the day - no replays.

The winner and runner-up of the Connacht GAA Senior Football Championship progresses directly to the 16-team All-Ireland Group Stage of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship.

Galway are the reigning Connacht GAA Senior Football champs and narrowly lost the overall 2024 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship to Armagh with a final score of 1–11 to 0–13.

New York last played Galway in the Connacht GAA Senior Football Championship in 2015. The Exiles lost to The Tribesmen 0-08 to 2-18 at Gaelic Park.

New York heads into its match against Galway this month after falling to Mayo 2-21 to 2-06 last year.

However, in 2023, New York claimed a thrilling victory over Leitrim after the match went to penalty shots - it marked New York's first-ever win in the Connacht Championship.

The Connacht GAA Senior Football Championship Quarter-Final match is typically a huge weekend for the Irish community in New York, as well as for fans in Ireland, many of whom fly over for the occasion. While Gaelic Park itself is usually standing room only for the match, the nearby Irish / Irish American neighborhoods of Woodlawn and Yonkers are abuzz with excitement for the weekend.

Meanwhile, the long-running redevelopment of Gaelic Park was reportedly paused in January. The Irish Examiner reported that the GAA ordered the New York County Board to immediately cease all work on the redevelopment following a "recent report that raised a number of questions about the administration of the project."
