The daughter of a pastor is in critical condition in a Florida hospital having been accidentally shot in the head.

A stray bullet went through a wall and hit 20-year-old Hannah Kelley in the head, on Sunday afternoon, reported Tampa Bay’s News 10.

Local police say congregation member Moises Zambrana (48) was showing Kelley’s boyfriend, 20-year-old Dustin Bueller, his gun. Kelley’s boyfriend had shown interest in buying it.

According to Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Zambrana had taken the magazine out of the Ruger 9mm and did not realize there was a bullet in the chamber.

Zambrana has a permit to carry a concealed weapon and so far no charges have been brought against him.

Speaking to My Fox, Tampa Bay Pinellas sheriff's spokeswoman Cecilia Barreda said, “Mr. Zambrana was showing the gun to a young man who said he would be turning 21 soon and was interested in purchasing a gun for himself.”

Barreda continued, “As he was showing him the safety features of the gun, the gun apparently went off,”

Bob Eidsvoog, a gun salesman in Tampa said, “Even with seasoned shooters, there are accidents that happen…They happen because they forget the basics of gun ownership and responsible gun handling."

He says a gun should be cleared carefully before anyone is shown the weapon. The magazine should be removed and the chamber should be racked several times to make sure the bullet is no longer in the chamber.

He explained, "You can see inside the chamber that there's nothing in the chamber and you can see daylight through the top all the way through the magazine well of the gun, so now we know this gun is cleared."

Kelley’s injuries are being called “life threatening”. Police believe that the shooting was an accident and no one has been charged.
