Ireland’s HometoVote hashtag has made it to the Twitter wall of fame at Twitter's headquarters in San Francisco following May 22nd’s massive turnout and Yes win in the Marriage Equality vote.
The hashtag HometoVote was tweeted 27,000 times within 24 hours as hundreds of Irish expats came from all over the world to have their say in the Marriage Equality and Presidential Age referendum. This means there were 97 tweets per minute talking about #HometoVote.
The head of Twitter in Ireland, Stephen McIntyre tweeted, “Once in a while we put a globally significant hashtag on our wall in San Fran HQ."
