This delightful photo shows President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins having a grand time with Blue Bloods star Bridget Moynahan, the ex-girlfriend of football legend Tom Brady.

As part of President Michael D. Higgins’ five-day visit to the US, he attended The Ireland Funds Women in Leadership Breakfast on April 26 at New York’s iconic Rainbow Room.

Special guests attending were: Chairman Emeritus of The Ireland Funds America, Loretta Brennan Glucksman; Chairman of The Ireland Funds America, John Fitzpatrick; Ireland’s Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Katherine Zappone; Ireland’s Ambassador to the United States, Dan Mulhall; Ireland’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Geraldine Byrne Nason and New York Police Commissioner, James O’Neill, and actress Bridget Moynahan.

He praised The Ireland Funds’ work saying the organization was “an exemplar of those values of openness, generosity and hospitality” and was “recognized as one of the most dynamic and successful diaspora and philanthropic organizations in the world.” He also stated that The Ireland Funds' Women’s Leadership series is “a most important initiative in a world which continues to face obstacles and many challenges towards attaining true equality”.

The Ireland Funds have supported outstanding nonprofit organizations including Women for Election which advances equality and opportunity for women in politics and the Daisyhouse Housing Association which addresses the short and long-term needs of homeless women and children in crisis.
