Republican Congressman Peter King, Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, has expressed alarm that a pair of celebrated filmmakers may have been given access to the inner workings of the Navy SEAL unit who killed Osama bin Laden.

After a New York Times report this week that claimed some military officers were shocked when writer Mark Boal showed up at a CIA ceremony in honor of the celebrated Team 6, King called for an inquiry into the access granted to filmmakers for a movie about the commandos.

Boal, alongside director Kathryn Bigelow, wrote the Oscar-winning Iraq war drama The Hurt Locker, and it's understood he is now writing a film about the Navy SEAL unit.

King objects to their high level access and claimed that letting the pair follow the inner workings of the SEAL Team 6 could cost lives.

In a letter dated August 10, King asked for an investigation into 'ongoing leaks of classified information regarding sensitive military operations.'

In response the White House spokesman Jay Carney called King’s claims 'ridiculous.' Carney said: 'I would hope that as we face the continued threat from terrorism, the House Committee on Homeland Security would have more important topics to discuss than a movie.'

Bigelow’s new film, which is still untitled, is scheduled for release on October 12 – less than a month before the presidential election.
