Friends of Shaun Brady, the Tipperary native who was fatally shot outside of his Brady & Fox restaurant in Kansas City last Wednesdaygathered on Sunday, September 1 at the Kansas City Irish Fest to mourn his death and celebrate his life.

Shaun Brady was known for preparing an Irish breakfast for attendees at the annual Kansas City Irish Fest, which this year was hosted just days after his tragic death.

More than 1,500 people attended the Irish Fest Mass on Sunday to remember Shaun, during which Father Don Farnan reflected on Shaun’s life as a restauranteur, family man, and friend.

Following the Mass, scores of Shaun’s friends gathered for a toast and blessing at the place where they enjoyed their Irish breakfast.

Afterward, Father Farnan noted how the Kansas City community came together to support the Brady family and each other.

“To know at this Irish Fest, how important it is for people who loved him to be present together,” Father Farnan said.

“Being together in one place you know that is your family, and you know that is where the love and the source of the summit of our existence is.”

The Kansas City Irish Fest gave this remembrance of Shaun: “As a chef, Shaun Brady nourished his community not just with incredible food, but with a deep pride in his culture and a contagious enthusiasm for celebration.

"The light he brought to our Irish community will endure through those touched by his talent, spirit, and joy for life.”

The Kansas City Irish Fest Board of Directors launched a memorial fund for Shaun's wife and two young children last week. At the time of publication, the GoFundMe has raised more than $150k.
