One of the Legends Hotel employees charged with her murder, Sandip Mooneea (41,) denies having any involvement in Michaela Harte’s murder.
In a formal statement he said that although he was nearby when she was killed he was not in the room and was not involved in the crime.
Another employee of the hotel Abinash Treebhoowoon had earlier confessed that he and Mooneea had killed the honeymooner when she returned to her honeymoon hotel room.
Mooneea continues to claim he is innocent.
The police in Mauritius believe that the 27-year-old Irish teacher was murdered when she interrupted a robbery.
Confronted with the allegations made by Terrbhoowoon and the security officer Dassen Narrainen, who has been charged with conspiracy Mooneea said “I've got nothing to do with the murder of Michaela Harte. I was not in room 1025 when she was killed."
Mooneea was charged with murder two weeks ago.
