The average asking price for a house in Ireland is now $244,147 (€177,000), according to a report by the property website Daft.ie.

That’s a 3.5% increase from the same time last year.

Ireland’s cities – Dublin in particular – are leading the increase, with asking prices up 15% in Dublin, 1.6% in Cork City and 3.1% in Galway City. The prices are being pushed up by a lack of supply.

As an infographic published by Daft.ie shows other areas of the country experiencing an increase in the price of homes include Louth, Kildare, Wicklow and Meath.

Elsewhere in the country, the average asking price has dropped – most dramatically in Roscommon, where the average is down by 10% to $126,663 (€91,838).

The national average is still down 53% from the asking prices at the height of Ireland’s housing bubble.
