The final stretch of John F Kennedy’s presidential campaign in 1960 - photo slideshow

In November 1960 John F Kennedy entered the final few days of his historic run for office. In the waning days of this year’s election we look back on that time and the incredible crowds, over 250,000 in some places, who showed up for his final days.
It is a step back in time to an era where stump speeches attracted hundreds of thousands and television and media played a far smaller role. The political world was on the verge of seeing history made 52 years ago this month.
John F Kennedy, great-grandson of an Irish famine immigrant, would be elected America’s youngest ever and first Catholic president at age 43.
