A late St. Patrick's Day parade in Jamesport, Long Island, did not escape the dying kick of winter as snow cascaded down on marchers this weekend.
It was almost 20 degrees warmer in Ireland than in the Suffolk County town but marchers braved a mixture of rain and snow and grim cold as they carried out the last St. Pat's Parade of 2015.
Attendance was down because of the weather after last year’s inaugural parade, but the hardy local fire and police battalions were not going to allow the lack of an Irish spring to stop their marching.
Patch.com reported that Grand Marshal Allen Smith led the parade and half dozen fire and police marching units from nearby towns took part.
