The mural, which will feature the show’s main players Erin, Orla, Michelle, Clare, and 'the wee English fella’ James, has begun to be painted on the side of Badgers Bar on Orchard Street in Derry City.
The Belfast Telegraph reports that the new mural is part of a wider marketing campaign ahead of the hit show’s highly anticipated second season, which finished filming in November and is due to air sometime in March.
Much to the delight of the show's US-based fans, 'Derry Girls' arrived on American Netflix in December, further growing the comedy's fanbase. As of yet, there's no word when the second season will be available for streaming on Netflix.
UV Arts, a non-profit social enterprise group from Derry City, is working in conjunction with Northern Ireland’s Channel 4’s in-house creative agency to produce the mural.

Councillor John Boyle, Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, told The Belfast Telegraph: “this artwork is a real tribute to the cast which will no doubt be really well received by fans," he said.
"I am delighted to see the ongoing success of the show, which has shone a spotlight on the city, our culture and our humor."
Karl Porter of UV Arts said: "The opportunity to immortalize these iconic figures through an amazing new mural can give the city a little hope for the future and spread a little laughter along the way,"
