Tributes are pouring in for a young man who died in Co Donegal after a tree fell on a car during Storm Eowyn.
The tragic incident occurred at around 5.30am on Friday (January 24) as the country was battered by a red wind warning caused by the storm.
Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene at Feddyglass, Raphoe in Co Donegal, where a tree fell on a car during the storm.
The driver of the car, who has since been named by gardai as 20-year-old Kacper Dudek, was fatally injured. It’s understood that Mr Dudek was originally born in Poland but grew up in Lifford in Donegal.
Holy Cross College in Strabane, Co Tyrone paid tribute to the past pupil.
They wrote: ‘The Holy Cross College community sends our thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of our past student, Kacper Dudek who has sadly passed away. May Kacper’s gentle soul rest in peace.’

Tributes have been pouring in online, with one person writing: ‘RIP Kacper. He was the nicest young man and the best friend, we all are so devastated and we wish that yesterday would never happened.’
Another person said: ‘So heartbreaking for Kacper and his family. God love them all. I remember from years ago. He was such a kind and mannerly young man.’
And a third person added: ‘Thoughts and prayers are with his family. He was such a lovely fella.’
Gardai said they continue to investigate the tragic incident.
A spokesperson said: ‘The body of the deceased man has been removed from the scene to the mortuary in Letterkenny University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.’
The N14 remains closed and local diversions are in place.
Garda Forensic Collision Investigators were conducting a full examination of the scene this morning (January 25).
A Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has been assigned to provide support to the family of Mr Dudek.
