Connecticut man Michael Munro died in a two-vehicle collision in Co Antrim on Tuesday night.

A US citizen has been named as the victim in a fatal two-vehicle collision that took place in Northern Ireland on Tuesday night.

Michael Munro, 31, from Orange, Connecticut, was named as the victim of the crash that took place on the Gracehill Road in Armoy, Co Antrim. The incident took place near popular tourist attraction Dark Hedges, made popular by TV show “Game of Thrones.”

A woman in her 30s is also being treated for her injuries in hospital but they are not believed to be life-threatening.

The Belfast Telegraph reports that it is believed Munroe was visiting Northern Ireland on his honeymoon.

The section of the road where the crash took place remained closed this morning.

"The news just coming through will reverberate around the community very quickly," said local Sinn Féin councilor Cara McShane.

"Clearly the infrastructure has not been developed in line with the increase in visitors.

"That goes for a huge part of our coastline as well. It is only a matter of time there will be more accidents unless urgent action is taken.

"Unfortunately any action has come too late for one family."
