Dana Delany from "Desperate Housewives" has told Prevention magazine about her unhealthy relationship with food, her botched Botox and how she maintains her age-defying looks.
The 54-year-old actress admitted to the magazine that she used Botox because her dermatologist recommended it but that he was very unhappy with the results.
She said "He injected my forehead, hit a nerve, and created a huge hematoma…The nerve has been dead ever since. It affected the muscle in my right eye, so my eye has started to droop a little bit."
Although it's hardly noticeable she insists that with everything she is her own biggest critic. She said "I notice it more than anybody else, but I was symmetrical before and now I am not."
During the interview she also spoke about her unhealthy relationship with food during her younger years. "When I was a teenager and in my 20s, I had eating issues," said Delany. "I binged. I starved. I was one step away from anorexia — a piece of toast and an apple would be all I'd eat in a day."
It was only during her role on the TV series "China Beach" that she her eating habits began to change.
"When I turned 30, my life got interesting and I stopped focusing on eating…Part of it was doing "China Beach.' I needed to have energy to work those long hours, and so I started eating more healthily."
She explained that now she focuses herself on work and maintaining a balanced lifestyle. She said "I have a treadmill. I don't run — I walk — and for just a half hour. I'll watch 'Nurse Jackie' while I do it."
Delany is also a avid dancer and revealed that while she was in London recently she got a chance to go dancing with the cast of "Glee". "I sort of became an honorary Glee member," she said. "We all went out dancing at a nightclub, which was the most fun in the world!"
Although she said she might quite like to be a competitor on "Dancing with the Stars" she joked "I would like to be on it if only to get in great shape! But would I have to wear all those sequins?"
