Jason Bateman is a dutiful actor. After his film with Ryan Reynolds, The Change Up, pretty much crashed and burned at the box office when it opened in August – not to mention the critical mauling it received – Bateman stayed on the publicity trail anyway and plugged the European release of the turkey. His itinerary included the Dublin premiere.
Bateman, the star of the cult TV classic Arrested Development, is really hitting his prime this year, The Change Up notwithstanding. He was one of the ensemble stars of the hit Horrible Bosses with Colin Farrell and he’s got a host of other projects in the pipeline. He’s also expecting child number two with his wife Amanda Anka, daughter of the crooner Paul Anka.
Bateman was asked by an Irish entertainment website about his favorite Irish actor, and not surprisingly it was Farrell. “I didn't have any scenes with Colin Farrell in Horrible Bosses but I bumped into him on set and I have to say he is my favorite,” he said.
He also told the Evening Herald that Farrell was “hilarious. He was really great on set, I loved how he played his character. I'd really like to work with him again.”
Bateman didn’t claim any Irish ancestry during his day in Dublin, and in fact his mother is British. But he enjoyed his time in the Irish capital and wouldn’t mind coming back.
"I've been here for 24 hours and I got to look around a bit but I would have loved to stay longer. I brought my three-year-old daughter with me and she really enjoyed it here too,” he said.
