Nick Cannon, Mariah Carey and their children |
The 'Art of Letting Go' warbler had such a difficult pregnancy with the couple's two-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe, she wouldn't want to put herself through that experience again and would only have more children if her spouse could go through the gruelling nine-month pregnancy.
Appearing on US talk show 'Watch What Happens Live', she quipped: "I had pre-eclampsia, I had gestational diabetes. [It was] a really difficult pregnancy and I was alone most of the time ... we love Nick, but he was working! He's the hardest working man in show business.
"If Nick could have the babies himself, then maybe. Then, bring 'em on. We love kids!"
Once the jokes subsided, however, the 43-year-old diva claimed she was more than happy with her family and feels content with her two children.
She added: "Nick and I have a boy and a girl, I couldn't ask for better."
The 'We Belong' Together hitmaker also revealed that having children has changed her outlook on her career and she makes decisions based on her kids' needs.
She explained: "I'm responsible for these children 'til forever so I look at it like, they didn't ask for this lifestyle. Here they are, and it is so different than being able to just be like, 'OK, bye, well, I'm going here now. I just did a show, I'm leaving.' "
Mariah had an eventful year as a judge on 'American Idol' but quit the show in May following her famed feud with fellow panellist, Nicki Minaj.
The singer, who recently described her 'Idol' experience as being akin to "hell", insisted she'll never be a reality show judge again after feeling duped by the show's producers, who changed the judging panel from three people to four after signing her up to a reported $18 million deal.
Mariah said: "[They said], 'It'll be a three-person panel' ... the typical thing. And then, they tie me up with this; it was [a] typical showbiz 'twirl the moustache' moment. I'm not blaming anybody.
"This is a disclaimer - this is not about anyone in particular - I wouldn't have done the show had I known that they were doing a total experiment village moment and I get to be the person who's out in front. It wasn't my bag."
