The 41-year-old actor has developed his own version of the margarita - which is traditionally made with tequila mixed with triple sec and lime or lemon juice - and he likes to quench his thirst with one at the end of the day.

He is quoted as saying: "I have my own version of the margarita: tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur and tonic water, topped off with cranberry juice."

Matthew - who has three-year-old son Levi and 15-month-old daughter Vida with his partner Camila Alves - says his favourite time to make his 'McConaughey margarita' is when he is cooking in the kitchen.

Just as he has his own cocktail, the 'Tropic Thunder' star has created his own special barbeque sauce. 

He revealed: "I like to whip it up when I'm doing my special barbeque sauce for steak. It satisfies the taste buds in time for the meat. I love being in the kitchen and cooking generally - it fuels my soul man!"
