Clean teen turned adult stripper/twerker Miley Cyrus took inspiration from another wild woman, Sinead O’Connor, for her raunchy, buzzed about video “Wrecking Ball.”

Not the gratuitous nude part of the clip – Sinead’s never gone that far, has she? – but rather the lovely opening sequence where a nearly bald Miley sheds a tear in a close-up shot, just like Sinead did back in the day for her big song “Nothing Compares 2 U.”

The former Hannah Montana acknowledges the comparison in a new interview with Rolling Stone magazine.

"It's like the Sinead O'Connor video [for 'Nothing Compares 2 U'], but, like, the most modern version," Cyrus says of her “Wrecking Ball” piece.

"I wanted it to be tough but really pretty -- that's what Sinead did with her hair and everything."

Both videos had the desired effect. “Nothing Compares 2 U” was a worldwide smash that launched O’Connor’s career, while “Wrecking Ball” has also made Cyrus an even bigger talking point – which much of the chatter not very flattering.
