Rep. Timothy Francis Murphy of Pennsylvania, take a bow.
Your hypocrisy in sponsoring anti-abortion bills while advising your mistress to have an abortion is breathtaking even by Washington snake belly standards.
It’s right up there with Three Wife Gingrich who impeached President Clinton for an affair while having his own lassie on the side. Bob Livingston was the other Republican congressional leader involved – except Bob had been a naughty boy too.
So instead they elected Dennis Hastert and wouldn't you know it – Hastert later went to jail for abusing boys. Oh, those Republican leaders!
So Timothy Francis, do not fear – you are not alone in the hypocrisy stakes. We knew you as an impassioned opponent of abortion, a co-sponsor of an abortion bill banning the procedure after twenty weeks.
At the same time, saints preserve us, you were having your way with Shannon Edwards, a forensic psychologist in Pittsburgh, but nothing unusual there.
But wait! She was half your age Timothy you are 65 and she is 32. But no matter, on January 25 she thought she was pregnant and knew darn well it wasn’t a Blessed Virgin deal despite Timothy being such a man of God and all that.
And there was Timothy on the television with his almighty megaphone preaching the gospel of anti-abortion.
So Shannon emailed you and said, “...You have zero issue posting your pro-life stance all over the place when you had no issue asking me to abort our unborn child just last week when we thought that was one of the options."
Timothy fired back like a holy hypocrite would, A text from his cell phone number that same day in response says, "I get what you say about my March for life messages. I've never written them. Staff does them. I read them and winced. I told staff don't write any more. I will."
Ya winced, did ya Timothy? A trained psychologist no less, he was known as Dr. Tim on local media in Pittsburgh before going on into politics.
Well, as a trained mental health professional, Timothy, you know it’s not a good idea to be contradicting yourself in your own head and being such a hypocrite about abortion.
“After discussions with my family (love to have been there for that one) and staff, I have come to the decision that I will not seek reelection to Congress at the end of my current term,” Murphy, 65, said in a statement yesterday.
Then, today, he informed Speaker Paul Ryan that he would resign effective October 21. Word has it fellow Republicans didn't want a potential ethics investigation against him to distract from messaging.
Well, it’s back home for you, Timmy me boy, and a future as black as Pennsylvania coal dust.
For your valiant effort, however, you should depart as the undisputed, unquestioned, unforgettable, undoubted Hypocrite of the Year.
