The Central Bank of Ireland has released a limited edition €15 silver collectors coin.
Similar to the first coins of the Irish Free State, which were issued in 1928, the coins feature an Irish hunter horse with a foal. The coin was designed by Emmet Mullins. His design was based on the old half crown which was designed by Percy Metcalfe.
This is the first in a three-year series. It will be followed by a coin depicting a salmon in 2011 and an Irish wolfhound in 2012.
