A letter to the editor printed in the Irish Times and Irish Independent newspapers:

"If a Chilean mine rescue situation were to happen here [Ireland], the Government would not yet have formed an escape committee, the Greens would demand an environmental impact assessment, objectors would already be demonstrating against unsightly drilling equipment and the funding for all of this would have gone missing.
