If Donald Trump does make the White House he may well have a soft spot for Ireland thanks to the two Irish nannies who raised his kids.
According to Michael Daly at The Daily Beast, the Trump kids, Ivanka, Eric and Don Junior, were reared by their mother Ivana, along with her parents—Milos and Maria Zelnicek—with the help of two remarkable Irish nannies, Dorothy Curry from Cavan and the late Bridget Carroll of County Kerry.
“The older Trump progeny have described the nannies as a vital nurturing force and stabilizing influence in their lives,” Daly writes.
The Trump boys confirmed the connection in a 2014 interview with the Irish Independent when they were opening their new property, the five-star Doonbeg Lodge and Golf Course in Clare.
And, although they have no direct Irish connection, the younger Trumps put their interest in the country down to their upbringing.

"There's not a direct lineage tie but in our hearts there certainly is," Donald Trump, Jr said.
"The woman who raised us was Irish. Dorothy Curry from Co Cavan. We spent a lot of time here growing up and she's an amazing woman."
"Who, by the way, still works for our mother," interjected his brother.
"When she stopped raising us and we were out of the house, she continued on and has worked in our family for over 30 years.
"We heard more about Ireland than any other country growing up."
They are also very proud of choosing Doonbeg, "My impression right after that was this is the one place that I called my father and said, 'This is so us. It's perfect,'" said Don Junior.
They looked at about "two dozen" courses in Ireland as potential investments but said Doonbeg stood out as the jewel in the crown.
So we can see President Trump and his sons arriving in Doonbeg at some point if he gains the White House. Perhaps he will bring along his Vice President, Mike Pence, who has Cawley relatives in nearby County Sligo.
