Conor O'Meara, a teenager from Portuma in Co.Galway has launched his debut album. The 16-year-old has won talent competitions and lead roles in musicals prior to recording his first CD.
The town mayor's son who is a fifth year student at Portuma Community School recently won the Tavern's Got Talent competition in Tipperary. His rendition of the Rugby World Cup theme song impressed judges who awarded Conor the top prize.
For his prize the teenager received a day's recording in Earth Recording Studios, Nenagh allowing him to record his first album.
“I’m 16 and my voice could break soon, so we were thinking it would be nice to have those tracks for ever more – if we’re doing it once we might as well do it right,” he told The Connacht Tribune this week.
Conor's soprano's CD covers classical to contemporary including tracks such as Ave Maria,You Raise Me Up and Bright Eyes to Any Dream Will Do.
