Robbie Keane ended his second stint at Spurs because he couldn’t bear warming the bench for the North London Premier League outfit.

“At the end of the day, I just like playing football,” said Keane after making his debut on Tuesday night against Kilmarnock in the league.

“It’s as simple as that. I love playing football.

“When I’m not playing, I am miserable and I miss it. So that’s the reason why I am here.”

Emm, what about the boyhood dream of playing with the Hoops and everything . . .

“I feel I need a few more games to get myself 100pc fit,” added the newly crowned highest paid footballer in Scotland.

“I started to tire towards the end of the game (on Tuesday), but that was to be expected. I’ve been training quite hard but there’s nothing like matches. I will only get fully right when I play a few games.”

Good to hear it Robbie, the Bhoys are 10 points behind Rangers and certainly need you “fully right.”

“There’s no reason why we cannot have a chance of winning the title. There’s every chance because there’s a long way to go,” added Ireland’s record goalscorer.

The second coming of R Keane to Celtic will continue his Scottish odyssey this Sunday when his new team takes on Dunfermline in the Scottish Cup.

On another positive note, if Keane and Aiden McGeady can get to know each better over the coming months and establish a good rapport, it can only augur well for the start of Ireland’s 2012 Euro qualifying campaign in the fall.
