Findmypast, the home of the largest collection of online Irish family history records in the world, has reached a major milestone with their Irish Newspaper Collection – it now contains 50 fascinating titles for you to explore!
The archive of historical local, regional and national newspapers, which covers every province in Ireland, now stands at over 4.2 million articles and continues to grow on a monthly basis.
Since their last update they’ve added over 880,000 new Irish newspaper articles. This includes 9 new titles – Connaught Watchman, Galway Mercury, Dublin Morning Register, Statesman, Westmeath Journal, Kerry Examiner, Limerick and Clare Examiner, Journal of the Chemico-Agricultural Society of Ulster and Allnut’s Land Schedule.
As well as that, a further 27 titles have been supplemented with additional articles with a large number of additions made to The Northern Whig, Waterford Mail and Tipperary Free Press, to name but a few.
This comprehensive treasure trove of Irish family history provides access to 15 historical newspapers from Leinster (including 8 Dublin titles), 10 from Munster, 10 from Ulster and 5 from Connaught. You’ll also find an eclectic mix of national newspapers, industry journals, religious publications and more.
The entire collection covers an amazing 152 years of Irish history, dating from 1900 all the way back to 1748.
