Luke Gelinas, a father of two from South Hadley, has sued the town's School Committee and two police officers for violating his civil rights by cutting him off and ejecting him from a public meeting after he criticized how the school officials had dealt with the bullying of 15-year-old Phoebe Prince.
The 48-year-old insurance salesman objected to how the school had dealt with the bullying of Phoebe Prince and the aftermath when she had committed suicide. He accused Edward Boisselle, who until recently was the chairman of the South Hadley School Committee and two South Hadley police officers of violating his civil rights during the School Committee meeting on April 14.
Gelinas said "The lawsuit will send a message to our kids that bullying on any level is unacceptable.’’
The superintendent of the school system in South Hadley, Gus Sayer has not seen the lawsuit and had no comment, according to an assistant. Paul Beecher, the Town Administrator who oversees the Police Department, also had no comment on the case.
In the case Gelinas is seeking compensatory damages against all three defendants and punitive damages against Boisselle.
