Adidas has released a promotional video pimping the 2013 Shamrock Series for Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish American football team.
The Notre Dame team, headed up by Brian Kelly, will wear this predominantly white uniform in their game against Arizona State at the Cowboys stadium (October 5).
For the past two years the Indiana University team has worn a new uniform for the Shamrock Series with the helmets tending to be the most creative part.
Traditionalists believe that the Notre Dame team should stick with their navy blue uniforms but more recently the team’s gone to a more white, green and gold motif.
The team’s site describes the uniform as, “TECHFIT jersey is all-white with metallic gold and kelly green shamrock accents, Celtic numbers and an interlocking "ND" logo on the back neck. Notre Dame's kelly green adidas TECHFIT baselayer highlights "FIGHTIN' IRISH" on the chest and "ND" on each bicep. The Irish's helmet features Notre Dame's signature textured gold with a gold chrome shamrock detail on each side and a kelly green chrome face mask. Notre Dame will wear adidas Team Speed vertical socks with Crazyquick and adizero 5-Star 2.0 cleats.”
The site Slap the Sign suggests that, “If Notre Dame is going to stay ahead of the game then they must keep evolving like other programs do.”
FoxNews complained about the mirror effect of the chrome shamrock on the helmets but said “compared to last year's hideous alternate uniforms, we aren't complaining.”
What do you make of the new uniform?
