An institution with over a century of tradition, the University of Notre Dame will be beginning their 125th year of football from none other than Dublin, Ireland during their Emerald Isle Classic football game against the US Naval Academy.
While celebrations and commemorations will be taking place all football season long for The Fighting Irish, the unofficial kickoff will be this weekend, September 1st specifically, in Ireland’s capital city.
An estimated 40,000 fans will be flocking to Dublin to cheer on The Fighting Irish and Navy as they battle it out at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium. The last time Dublin hosted a game between the two was in 1996.
Providing a solid tourism boost, fans are expected to enjoy both time before and after the big game in Ireland. Dublin won’t be the only city reaping the benefits, either - other tourist hotspots like Galway and Kerry are being included in tour groups that are headed to Dublin for the game.
Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish will be celebrating and honoring their 125 years of football on either side of the pond beginning this month.
Accordingly, The University of Notre Dame has rolled out special ‘ND125’ logos and apparel to go along with their honoring of the impressive anniversary. Check out their website to learn more and how to join in on the Fighting Irish’s 125th anniversary.
