An assault charge against Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has been dropped. However, the England midfielder still faces an affray charge following an incident at a nightclub in Southport on Decmebre 29.

The 28-year-old soccer star was present in court today but no formal pleas were entered. The plea hearing will be held at Liverpool Crown Court on April 3. Gerrard has been Liverpool’s outstanding player this season and has 70 caps for England.
