The 21-year-old son of NFL Hall of Fame, Quarterback Joe Montana, Nate, has been arrested on suspicion of DUI (driving under the influence alcohol).
At 3.46am on Friday Nate was booked by the Missoula County police. He was booked into jail on his first DUI charge and released 30 minutes later after posting a $685 bond.
The son of the legend attended Notre Dame in 2008 and made the football team as a walk-on, but then transferred to Pasadena City College in 2009.
He returned to the Fighting Irish last year but remained buried on the depth chart behind Tommy Rees and Dwayne Crist, and ended up only attempting 18 passes, nine of which he completed, for 116 yards and a pick.
Montana then transferred to Montana, an FCS school, to play in 2011. He is now vying for the Quarterback spot.
Jim Foley, the Executive Vice President of the University of Montana said the school will continue to monitor the judicial process and any discipline for his actions will be handled internally.
The college footballer was also arrested last year, along with 11 Notre Dame athletes, on misdemeanor charges of underage drinking at a party in South Bend, Indiana.
