Munster have announced that flanker Alan Quinlan will appeal the ERC decision that resulted in his 12-week ban from rugby.

The suspension was handed down to Quinlan after he was found guilty of making contact with the eye area of Leinster captain, Leo Cullen, during Munster's Heineken Cup semi-final meeting with Michael Cheika's side at Croke Park.

On Wednesday of last week, the independent Disciplinary Committee met in Dublin and determined that the offense was at the low-range of the level of seriousness for an of fence but they still imposed a 12-week ban.

The appeal is expected to be heard sometime this week but no details have been confirmed.
