Robbie Keane helped the LA Galaxy give David Beckham the perfect send-off with victory in the MLS Cup final on Saturday night.
The Ireland captain scored in the final seconds as the Galaxy came from a goal down to beat Houston Dynamo 3-1 at the Home Depot stadium.
Beckham’s five and a half year stint with the Galaxy came to an end as the Galaxy retained their crown despite falling behind to a first-half goal from Calen Carr.
Omar Gonzalez equalized with a header, Landon Donovan put the Galaxy in front with a penalty and Keane added a third in injury-time with another penalty kick.
The 37-year-old Beckham received a stadium ovation when he was substituted near the end of his final appearance for the LA club.
Beckham said afterwards: “I am sad that this is the end. This is a very special place for me and it will continue to be. I am happy to have been part of this club for six years and I am grateful to have been successful for the last four years.
“I may not play here anymore but I remain just as committed to growing this club, this league and this sport.”
Linked with moves to Paris St Germain and Monaco, Beckham insisted that he has ‘no idea’ where he will play next.
