He might not need tips on how to be sexy, recently being voted People's Sexiest Man Alive, but Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds admits that he takes inspiration from his predecessors when it comes to portraying action characters.
According to the Huffington Post, Reynolds revealed that he based his latest role of the Green Lantern off two heroes incarnated by legendary actor Harrison Ford. The film, named "Green Lantern" after Reynolds's
character, not only has big shoes to fill in terms of its respective muses, but it forced Reynolds to merge two different characters with two veering personalities. Reynolds concedes that the Green Lantern figure "is somewhere in the middle...He's a classic male."
Reynolds continued to define the role as one that is inherently explicative of the struggles real people face outside of the Hollywood glitz and glam: “It’s about courage versus fearlessness and the power of willpower and the need for sacrifice and service. This is not a comedy film but like Han Solo or an Indiana Jones, there are moments where you smile and the hero can trades lines with anybody.”
Though Reynolds might not define his latest venture as a comedy, it is expected to do as well or even better than his previous theatrical endeavors once it is released on June 17. Undoubtedly Reynolds will be able to add Hollywood Blockbuster to his burgeoning accolades, alongside Sexiest Man of course.
