Paul the Octopus oracle has picked Spain to defeat Holland in the World Cup final.

The German-based Octopus picked Spain in a decision that was carried live on television in both countries.

You couldn't make this stuff up.

He also picked Germany to win the third place game against Uruguay tomorrow.

Paul has been prescient so far in the World Cup picking every winner of every game.

Now comes his big test however.

The Octopus picks by choosing a glass container with a Dutch flag or a Spanish flag. Inside the containers are some of his favorite mussels food.

His fame has led to bookmakers adjusting their odds according to his decisions.

German newspapers despise Paul because he picked against the home country when Spain defeated them.

"Throw him in the frying pan," wrote the Berliner Kurier newspaper in a popular sentiment echoed by Die Welt, Sueddeutsche Zeitung, the Hamburger Abendblatt and other newspapers.
