A new study from Betway has revealed the most popular film locations you can visit across the globe this year - with one location on the Emerald Isle making the top 12.
The Burren, in County Clare - a top filming location for many scenes in the popular television series "Father Ted" - ranked tenth on the list, beating the filming destinations for the hit films "Good Will Hunting" and "The Shining."
To determine the rankings, researchers at Betway measured the popularity of each location by a unique index score, which was based on the number of hashtags and views each location has racked up on Instagram, as well as Trip Advisor rankings - with the lower overall index score the higher the ranking.
Martha’s Vineyard, in Massachusetts, bagged first place as the top location, which was used for the 1975 film "Jaws." You can take a tour over the American Legion Memorial Bridge, around the Edgartown Harbour - or even hop in a kayak across the Sengekontacket Pond if you’re a real thrillseeker.
In second place were some of the University College of London buildings, located on Gower Street, in Bloomsbury, London. Many will recognize these buildings from the 2010 film "Inception," as they acted as the Paris School of Architecture. Following behind was Albuquerque, New Mexico - the home to most scenes in "Breaking Bad."
Making the top five was the picturesque towering mountains of Glencoe, in the Scottish Highlands - one of the many locations for the James Bond film "Skyfall" - as well as one of LA’s most iconic filming locations, the Griffith Observatory. It proved to be a popular one to visit after making an appearance in the rom-com, "La La Land."
Fans of the sitcom "Father Ted" will know that some of their favorite scenes were dotted around County Clare in Ireland, which is why The Burren made the list of must-visit global filming locations to visit this year. From the Parochial House and The Very Dark Caves to St Kevin’s Stump, there is much to see in the surrounding areas of the Burren if you're looking to take a trip down memory lane.
Meanwhile, Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh - featured in the Netflix series "One Day" - wasn’t far behind, beating "Crazy Rich Asians" film location, Marina Bay Sands Hotel and Casino, based in Singapore.
