Derrynane Beach, located in County Kerry, has ranked among the sexiest beaches  in the world, according to a new study.

HomeToGo, the marketplace with the world's largest selection of holiday rentals, and Lovehoney, the UK’s leading sexual wellness brand, have teamed up to reveal the world’s 100 sexiest beaches.

These sultry beaches boast solitude, swoon-worthy sunsets, and more, with the ranking uncovering the top spots to which couples can retreat to turn up the heat.

Featuring more than 30 countries across six continents, the guide is packed with inspiration for both quick trips and long-haul adventures for romantic travelers across the globe, as well as advice as to what and how to pack to ensure minimum stress and maximum pleasure while on holiday.

To rank the beaches, the index takes into consideration scores for six distinct categories — including solitude, number of romantic restaurants, heat, popularity with couples, swoon-worthy sunsets, and inclusivity — to unveil the world’s ultimate beaches for steamy stays.  

Topping the list of sultry shores is Cable Beach in Kimberley, Australia, with 53.2 points out of the total possible 60, earning especially high scores for its seclusion, sun-kissed setting, and stunning sunsets. Five other long-haul destinations snapped up spots in the top 10, including Brazil’s Baia do Sancho in 3rd, Cuba’s Playa Varadero in 5th, and India’s Agonda Beach in 6th. 

Closer to home in Europe, Italy’s Spiaggia di Maria Pia snagged 2nd place, followed by Playa de Ses Illetes in the Balearic Islands (Spain) and Praia do Camilo in the Algarve (Portugal)  in 4th and 8th respectively.

Ireland's Derrynane Beach scored 42 points out of the possible 60 to land in 87th place, earning an especially high score for its serenity and lack of crowds. 

This stunning County Kerry spot is known for its natural beauty and historical significance.

The beach features crystal clear waters and soft, golden sand, making it a perfect spot for relaxing and swimming, while the surrounding landscape offers breathtaking views to share with that special someone.

In addition to its beautiful nature trails for hiking, the area also has several ancient ruins to explore. Derrynane House, the ancestral home of 19th century political leader Daniel O'Connell, is also nearby.
