Ireland’s Blue Book, the bible of the country’s best country house hotels, manor houses, castles, and restaurants, launched its 45th-anniversary edition including six new properties around Ireland.
The collection was founded in 1974 and aims to list the best of the best from around the country. Six new properties were added to the 2019 guide, including Ballyfin Demesne in Laois, Bishop’s Gate Hotel in Derry City, Killarney’s Cahernane House, Butler House in Kilkenny, Dunowen House in West Cork and The Hideaway at Dromquinna Manor in Kerry. The new properties bring the total listed up to 45 properties, all offering a unique experience for guests.
When announcing the new properties, Ireland’s Blue Book Chairperson Simon O’Hara said: “As we celebrate the 45th Anniversary of Ireland’s Blue Book, I am delighted to welcome these 6 fine properties. Not only do they provide wonderful locally sourced food and luxurious accommodation, but their charm, history and individuality make them a highlight of any Irish journey or occasion. I feel privileged to continue my role as Chairperson for 2019 as we look forward to an exciting year ahead for Irish tourism”
The announcement, which was made on November 21st at The Merrion Hotel, showed that the guide is striving to include more varied offerings, ranging from the opulence of Ballyfin Demense in Laois to The Hideaway in Kenmare’s luxurious glamping tents.
