A free entertainment program is set to take place in Galway later in July to coincide with the annual Galway Races.
The Galway Summer Vibes campaign kicks off on Monday, July 29, and runs until Wednesday, July 31, and aims to kickstart race week in the city.
A number of live events will take place in Galway City before and after the Galway Races over the three-day period, including performances from local bands, traditional music sessions, and acoustic sets.
The campaign also features a number of fashion showcases and family-friendly activities throughout the city.
The fashion showcases will take place between noon and 3 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday and will be hosted by fashion entrepreneur and stylist Mandy Maher.
Maher will shine a spotlight on local Galway retail outlets, encouraging attendees to shop locally and support the city's boutiques, jewelers, and footwear stores.
Diageo has partnered with local public houses to ensure every pub is offering a "top-tier" experience during race week, while local restaurants will be offering a "pre-race lunch".
Johnny Duggan, Chairman of Galway City VFI (Vintners Federation of Ireland, described the Galway Summer Vibes campaign as a "great initiative".
"It is another great initiative where the various City Centre areas come together to let people know that the City Centre is open for business and with plenty to see and do, whether you are a Race goer or not. There is such a great array of pubs in Galway, all within walking distance, with lots on across the city in all areas," Duggan said.
Margaret Jenkins, Wild Atlantic Way Team Manager at Fáilte Ireland, said the campaign will help showcase the best that Galway has to offer.
"Festivals and events play a key role in helping visitors immerse themselves in a destination’s unique offering. Fáilte Ireland has worked closely with Galway’s business community to help develop an exciting program of free events that will bring Galway’s streets to life with the city’s renowned arts, culture, and creativity," Jenkins said.
