Inchicore in Dublin has made the list of Time Out’s 38 coolest neighborhoods in the world, which was published on Wednesday, September 25.
Located in the south-central area of Dublin, Inchicore ranked 25th on the list of 38 cool neighborhoods, which was topped off by Notre-Dame-du-Mont in Marseille, France.
Inchicore is now the fifth area in Dublin to be dubbed as one of the coolest neighborhoods in the world, following Stoneybatter, Phibsboro, Dublin 8, and Smithfield.
And earlier this year, Dublin’s Camden Street was included in Time Out’s list of the 30 coolest streets in the world.
Time Out says that for their 2024 roundup of the world's coolest neighborhoods, they went "straight to the experts – our global team of on-the-ground writers and editors – and asked them what the coolest neighbourhood in their city is right now, and why."
From there, the Time Out team narrowed down the selection and ranked the list using the insight and expertise of Time Out’s global editors, who vetted each neighborhood against criteria including food, drink, arts, culture, street life, community, and one-of-a-kind local flavor.

Dublin-based writer Rory Cashin helped see Inchicore make the final list of 38 "cool" neighborhoods.
Cashin describes Inchicore as "a part of the city that’s come to perfectly represent Dublin’s unique old-school charm mixed with a very modern energy," adding that "the unexpected trendiness that’s descended on the likes of Smithfield and Stoneybatter has found its way to Inchicore."
Inchicore, Cashin says, is replete with "magnificent 'old man' pubs" such as Cleary’s and The Glen, alongside new venues like Stillgarden Gin Distillery and the Gravity Climbing Centre.
It's also got a prime location in Dublin City being walking distance from the Phoenix Park, Kilmainham Jail, Dublin Zoo, and the Irish Museum of Modern Art.
For Cashin, a perfect day in Inchicore includes a stop at Riggers for coffee followed by a nose into the Richmond Barracks, "a culture centre set up for anything from comic-book festivals to walking tours of nearby historical landmarks."
He goes on to recommend Tacos Lupillo for lunch and people-watching, followed by a visit to Richmond Park to take in a game of football.
To cap off the night, Cashin suggests dinner at Kari and a tipple in The Black Lion.
Overall, Cashin recommends checking out the regular events - like movie nights and barbecues - hosted by Rascals Brewing in Inchicore.
