Over 600 thousand travelers arrived in Ireland during June according to new figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
Some 669,500 visitors completed a trip to Ireland in June 2024, an increase of 8% compared with June 2023, Ireland's Central Statistics Office (CSO) said on Tuesday, July 30.
Travelers from Great Britain were by far the largest contingent of foreign visitors in Ireland representing 34%, with the US in second place representing 24%.
Germany was the next largest contingent, representing 6.5% of all foreign visitors in June.
Typically, their visit lasted 7.3 nights. Their most frequent reason for their journey (45.8%) was for holiday or leisure purposes.
Visitors spent a combined total of €962.3 million during the month, a huge increase of 14.4% on the same period last year.
For visitors the typical cost of their visit was €1,437, which comprised €415 on fares, €45 on prepayments, €458 on accommodation, and €519 on day-to-day expenditures.
The average cost 12 months previous was €1,357.

More of the visitors stayed in hotels (46.1%) than in any other accommodation type.
Another 33.9% of the visitors had used family/friend or their own property as their main accommodation type.
A further 5.9% of the visitors used guest house/bed & breakfast as their main accommodation type, while another 5.4% used rented/self-catering as their main accommodation type.
Last month, the CSO reported that May also saw an increase of 8.5% compared to the same month in 2023 with 622,300 visitors arriving in Ireland throughout May 2024.
