Dublin, Galway, Belfast, and Killarney have all been ranked among the Best of the Best Destinations 2024 by Tripadvisor, the world's largest travel guidance platform.
Dublin, Ireland’s capital city, ranks sixth on Tripadvisor’s Best of the Best Culture Destinations for 2024, right between Athens, Greece, and Colombo, Sri Lanka.
While Dublin is famous for being the home of Guinness, Tripadvisor noted how spots like Dublin Zoo, Stephen's Green, and Phoenix Park make the city especially "family friendly." Tripadvisor also highlighted Dublin's "designer boutiques" and rich literary history.

Meanwhile, both Galway (#9) and Belfast (#10) ranked among the top ten Best of the Best Sustainable Destinations for 2024.
"The best thing about Galway is that you can walk everywhere," Tripadvisor said of this coastal Irish city where "you may even hear Gaelic spoken." While the city offers "lively pubs, independent shops and winding cobblestone streets packed with students, artists, writers, and craftspeople," Tripadvisor also recommends a visit to the island of Inis Mor.

Belfast, in Co Antrim in Northern Ireland, has "grown into a cosmopolitan destination and become a popular weekend break spot," said Tripadvisor.
The Ulster Folk Museum and Belfast Cathedral got special mentions, while Tripadvisor also encourages visitors "to experience some of the award-winning restaurants, bars, clubs, galleries, and theatres."

Elsewhere, Killarney in Co Kerry ranks 24th on the Best of the Best Honeymoon Destinations for 2024 list, right between Barbados and Antigua.
Killarney is "a walking town, and every trail is a history lesson," Tripadvisor says before recommending a visit to Killarney National Park via boat from Ross Castle.

Tripadvisor's Best of the Best Destinations lists were published on January 9, the first portion of its wider Travellers' Choice Best of the Best 2024 lists.
The Best of the Best Destinations lists span seven categories for 2024 - Top Destinations (formerly Popular Destinations), Trending Destinations, Culture Destinations, Food Destinations, Nature Destinations, and two new subcategories - Honeymoon Destinations and Sustainable Destinations.
Tripadvisor says its Best of the Best Destinations lists offer inspiration from Tripadvisor’s global travel community for those planning trips for 2024. Winning destinations are determined by analyzing Tripadvisor reviews and rankings from the last 12 months, and with a multitude of destinations spanning 80 countries, there’s something for everyone.
