The Huffington Post and SmarterTravel.com have named Dublin’s Temple Bar one of the 10 Most Disappointing Travel Locations in the World.
The bar and nightlife hub just off the south bank of the Liffey is described as “a prime example of the rampant fleeing of drunken tourists that should be avoided at all costs.”
The article advises potential visitors to “seek out a pub literally anywhere else in Dublin for a better experience.”
Dublin itself is described as “great,” however.
“There’s a castle and gorgeous architecture, there are renowned colleges and green spaces, and there are many other things to see and do that go beyond the tired ‘Irish culture equals pubs’ stereotype.”
In the list of disappointments, Temple Bar is joined by other famous destinations including Hollywood, Las Vegas, Florida’s Walt Disney World, Liberty Island (home to the Statue of Liberty) and Casablanca, Morocco.
