The Guinness Storehouse, Ireland’s No. 1 international visitor attraction, today announced the opening of the Guinness Connoisseur Bar Experience. Now, during a visit at the Home of Guinness in Dublin, Ireland, legal drinking age Guinness fans and beer lovers can learn how to appreciate and taste the most popular Guinness variants.
As the first and most exclusive Guinness beer connoisseur experience in the world, this tutored tasting will take Guinness Storehouse visitors on a sensory journey through four different Guinness variants – Guinness Draught, Guinness Foreign Extra Stout, Guinness Original, and the newest member of the Guinness variant family, Guinness Black Lager. The recently unveiled Guinness Generous Ale, a limited-edition Holiday Ale, will also join the four Guinness variants throughout the sensory experience for a limited time.
“There is a science to tasting and appreciating a quality beer like Guinness,” said Fergal Murray, Guinness master Brewer. “The new Guinness Connoisseur Bar Experience at the Guinness Storehouse enables visitors to become part of an exclusive club of Guinness Ambassadors while learning the intricacies of each Guinness beer variant at the finest Guinness beer connoisseur bar in the world.”
Each Guinness Storehouse visitor begins the Guinness Connoisseur Bar Experience with a trained Guinness expert. After learning the legacy behind each Guinness variant, visitors participate in an introductory sensory exploration, where each is taught how to appropriately examine Guinness through sight, taste and smell. Beer aficionados will learn about pouring rituals and flavor notes through an intimate tutored tasting session.
Upon concluding the Guinness Connoisseur Bar Experience, visitors receive a VIP tasting card, as well as exclusive lapel pin that signify their newly acquired knowledge and expertise as a Guinness Connoisseur.
Whether taking part in the Guinness Connoisseur Experience in Dublin, having a pint at a local pub or raising a bottle of Guinness Black Lager with friends, the iconic brewer reminds all legal drinking age adult consumers to enjoy its products responsibly.
The ‘Guinness Global’ New Fourth Floor
The fourth floor at the seven-storey Guinness Storehouse building is the new home to the Guinness Connoisseur Bar Experience, as well as other new Guinness Storehouse installations. The ‘Guinness Global’ fourth floor now houses a range of interactive exhibits that tell the story of how Guinness is enjoyed and celebrated around the world.
In addition to the Guinness Connoisseur Bar Experience, fourth floor visitors can now take part in a variety of interactive experiences, including the Guinness Academy, the Guinness Community Map, the Guinness Variants Exhibition, the Arthur Guinness Fund Exhibition, and the Guinness Infographic Wall.
The Guinness Academy is a specially designed bar where visitors can learn the craft of pouring the perfect pint and receive a signed certificate in recognition of their achievement. Post ‘graduation’ from the Guinness Academy, ‘graduates’ can have their picture taken behind the bar with their perfect pint and certificate in hand, and share their photo on their Facebook page on interactive kiosks.
The Guinness Community Map is an exciting new digital installation that features one of the world’s largest high-resolution interactive screens that displays the global view of Guinness around the world. With dedicated pods to post messages from the Guinness Storehouse, the Guinness Community Map champions Guinness fans all over the world and allows visitors to the Guinness Storehouse to leave their message on the map and link in with their local Guinness Facebook Community.
The truly global nature of the Guinness story is brought to life with the Guinness Infographic Wall and Variants exhibition. Visitors learn about the treasured legacy of the Guinness variants enjoyed around the world, and how from humble beginnings, Guinness grew its footprint around the globe reaching 150 countries.
The legacy of Arthur Guinness continues with an area dedicated to the Arthur Guinness Fund, a philanthropic fund created as part of the 250th anniversary of the Guinness Brewery in 2009 and active in 10 countries around the globe. The Fund supports social entrepreneurs that strive to make a difference to their communities and their countries.
