Dublin Castle's historic grounds will once again be transformed into a magical winter wonderland for the holiday season.

Ireland's Office of Public Works (OPW), in partnership with Dublin City Council, has announced the return of the much-loved Christmas at the Castle.

Nestled in the heart of Ireland's capital, the magical Christmas Market will run from November 28 to December 18. This festive celebration will transform Dublin Castle’s historic grounds into a winter wonderland filled with seasonal delights for all ages.

This year’s event features a unique boutique open-air Christmas Market with a wide variety of festive offerings. Operating daily from midday until 21.00, this free ticketless event promises a host of activities set against the backdrop of one of Dublin’s most iconic landmarks.

Visitors can stroll through the beautifully decorated courtyard, where traditional market stalls offer handcrafted decorations, unique gifts, and seasonal crafts. Artisanal food producers will provide mouth-watering seasonal treats, perfect for indulging in the flavours of the holidays.

In addition to the delicious culinary delights on offer, enjoy entertainment in the festively decorated Spiegel style marquee, marvel at the beautiful Neapolitan crib on display in the Chapel Royal. Visitors can wander through the historic State Apartments which will be open to all visitors for the holiday season.

Christmas at the Castle is a key element of the ‘Winter in Dublin’ campaign by Fáilte Ireland to showcase the great activities happening throughout Dublin City Centre this Winter. In 2023, just over 216,000 people enjoyed Christmas at the Castle and the atmosphere of a festive Dublin city.

With over 1,000 years of history in Dublin Castle and plenty of festive food, crafts, music and entertainment – there will be something for everyone to enjoy this festive season.

Attendees should note:

  • No parking is permitted on the grounds, active travel is encouraged.
  • This is a free ticketless event.
  • Capacity will be monitored, so there may be queues during busy periods.
  • The yard is accessible, but there are cobblestones.
  • Entrance for the public is through the lower courtyard, via Palace Street.
  • Exit for the public is via Castle Street.
  • The event is subject to license by the authorities.
  • Cashless transactions are preferred on site.
