The Cliffs of Moher are getting another tourist upgrade - a 700-foot waterslide.

A source in Clare County Council told IrishCentral today Tuesday, April 1, that work is due to begin at the already iconic tourist attraction imminently.

The new waterslide is set to be located between the Cliffs of Moher visitor center and O'Brien's Tower. Brave sliders will line up near the cliff's edge before sliding down and shooting out into the sea.

Irish Ferries, a partner in the new Irish tourist attraction, will collect the sliders from the sea. On board the ferry, the thrill-seekers will be treated to "a cuppa tea and a toastie."

Pints of stout will be available for purchase for those who are left "pure shook."

The ferry will transport sliders, who will receive a 5% voucher to a local pub, to Doolin. A bus back to the Cliffs of Moher visitor center from Doolin will cost €20 per person.

IrishCentral understands that the new waterslide will be translucent, offering stunning views of the Irish coastline for the brave sliders (when the weather cooperates).

A ride down the waterslide at the Cliffs of Moher will cost €20 per person - though the fee will increase to €50 when the weather is clear.

Children and President Michael D. Higgins can slide for free.

The masterminds behind the new waterslide in Co Clare are adamant about "celebrating Irish culture" with the new tourist attraction. As such, Irish music will be pumped into the waterslide for riders to listen to.

Daniel O'Donnell, Niall Horan, and the soundtrack to "Riverdance" are set to be in heavy rotation.

However, IrishCentral understands there will be opportunities for advertisers to purchase ad spots in the waterslide, with commercials interspersed in the Irish music inside the waterslide. Irish companies bidding for ad space include Ryanair, Barry's Tea, and Abrakebabra.

Though groundbreaking for the new Cliffs of Moher waterslide has yet to occur, plans are underway for an opening ceremony that will ... make a splash. Having the honor of taking the first slip down the slide will be the Clare Hurling panel which won the 2024 All-Ireland Hurling Championship. They'll have the Liam MacCarthy Cup in tow for the slide into the sea.
