There was no Bono busking on Grafton Street this year on Christmas Eve as the singer who suffered multiple injuries after a bike crash in Central Park last month did not show up.
He was likely snug in his bed in Dalkey, the Dublin suburb where he lives, as Glen Hansard took over the main role and serenaded the thousands who had come to see the great ones perform for the Simon Community which helps homeless folks.
However it turned out he had attended a celebrity party at the Cliff Townhouse in Dublin with among other Shane MacGowan of Pogues fame. His arm was in a cast.

Hansard was joined by Damien Rice and other leading musicians on a mild warm Christmas Eve which emboldened thousands to pack Dublin’s most famous shopping thoroughfare.

But the king of pop never showed up and it was like Hamlet without the prince as a result.
Headliners instead were Glen Hansard, The Coronas, Paddy Casey, Danny O’Donoghue, Roísín O and Damien Rice.
The only Bono sightings since his injuries were in Dublin, where he was seen wearing a sling and dark glasses.
He also usually attends Leopardstown horse races the day after Christmas which is a huge social event, so no doubt, the paparazzi will be out in force again there.
