Figures filed on behalf of the band - which comprises - Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan - at Companies House showed they logged a turnover of $78.6 million last year, and each member drew a salary of $8.96 million.

However, it is thought that these figures do not take into account One Direction's earnings from the US, where the band - who were put together on UK TV talent show 'The X Factor' in 2010 - just finished their incredibly successful 'Where We Are Tour'.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Their earning power has rocketed over the past 12 months.

"Who knows what the next year will bring? It's not bad considering they only finished in third place when they were on 'The X Factor'."

Their earnings have more than doubled since 2012, where they earned $28.9 million and took home $3.2 million each.

In the past two years, One Direction have sold more than 45 million records and launched three international tours.

Earlier this week the boys topped heat magazine's annual list of Britain's richest stars under 30 where they beat 'Harry Potter' actor Daniel Radcliffe and 'Twilight' star Robert Pattinson to the number one spot with estimated global earnings of over $123.2 million.
