It appears Rory McIlroy knew exactly where to head to celebrate after his nail biting US PGA Championship win on Sunday.
McIlroy boarded his private jet and headed straight for New York from Kentucky, to the Big Apple where hotelier John Fitzpatrick had arranged a red carpet welcome at his hotel on 57th Street and Lexington Avenue.
The Northern Irish golf champ arrived at about 2am with both the PGA trophy and the British Open grand slam one. A red carpet was rolled out to greet the conquering hero.
"We are so happy and so delighted for him," said hotelier John Fitzpatrick who is also Chairman of the American Ireland Fund.
"He has done us all proud."
The two golf trophies were on display in the hotel lobby on Monday morning.
