Allie Sherlock, the talented teen busker from Co Cork, is enjoying another moment of viral fame.

Sherlock shared her cover of Coldplay's hit song “Viva La Vida” - accompanied by ‘The 3 Busketeers’ - on YouTube in September 2021, but the performance received a huge boost this month when it was shared on X by Ben Taylor, aka The Magic Mod.

“This may be the best cover I’ve ever seen in my life wow what a voice,” Taylor said to his nearly 42k followers on X on January 17.

The post on X has gone on to receive 53k likes and more than 16 million views.

Some people, however, replied that the video Taylor shared on X was slightly distorted and linked to Sherlock’s original YouTube video:

Sherlock, now 18 years old, has been on the rise to fame ever since she launched her YouTube page in 2014, where she shares videos of her busking performances.

In 2017, Sherlock's cover of Ed Sheeran's "Supermarket Flowers" went viral - and even caught the attention of US talk show host Ellen Degeneres.

A few months later, Sherlock was in Los Angeles to perform "A Million Years Ago" by Adele on The Ellen Degeneres Show.

"I was always the kid who was going around the house singing," Sherlock told Degeneres on the talk show.

"You're on your way for sure," Degeneres told the Irish 12-year-old.

Later in 2018, Sherlock competed on "Britain's Got Talent," though she failed to make it to the semi-finals. That same year, she signed a five-year contract with Patriot Records, owned by Ryan Tedder, the lead vocalist of OneRepublic.

The talented singer continues to post covers and busking performances on her social media accounts which boast huge numbers of followers.

Sherlock can trace some of her social media following back to Canadian superstar Justin Bieber, who shared her cover of his song "Intentions" on his own Instagram story.

Sherlock has released four albums, a mix of covers and original compositions - "Can't Let Go" in July 2017, "Allie Sherlock" in November 2017, "A Part of Me" in June 2020, and "Allie" in April 2023.
