"Ripley" star Andrew Scott lost out on an Emmy win to "Baby Reindeer" star and creator Richard Gadd at Sunday nights Emmy Awards.

However, it was "Shōgun", the Japanese historical drama,  became the first non-English language show to be named best drama. The series also set a record for the most single-season Emmy wins taking home four prizes to make it 18 in total including the creative arts awards handed out earlier in September.

"Baby Reindeer" took home four awards on Sunday night including Richard Gadd's for writing and starring in the while co-star Jessica Gunning was named best supporting actress.

The US series "The Bear" also picked up four awards in the comedy category, with wins for Jeremy Allen White, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Liza Colon-Zayas, while Hacks took the overall win for best comedy series.

Elizabeth Debicki won her first Emmy for her portrayal of Princess Diana in "The Crown".

Oscar winner Jodie Foster took home her first Emmy for her role in the series "True Detective: Night Country." See a full list of winners below.

While the Irish failed to make their mark on stage at the Emmys, they did put on a show on the red carpet.

"Derry Girl" Nicola Coughlan's incredible silver sequened gown turns some heads while Saoire Ronan and her new husband, Jack Lowden, made their first outing as newly weds.
